The following is a complete list of the Reinvention of the Automobile patents. A total of 57 U.S. and International patents have been awarded; applications for 26 patents are pending. These inventions cover aspects of vehicle development as well as vehicle creation of all vehicles in the Reinvention of the Automobile program, including the GM AUTOnomy, GM Hy-Wire, GM CARousel, GM Chevy Sequel, GM Chevy Volt, Opel Ampera, Cadillac Converj, and the production-only Chevrolet Volt.

The awarded patents and patent applications cover innovative material applications, design, business and manufacturing processes, and advanced automotive vehicle technologies (including electrical controls, by-wire systems, wheel hub motors, e-corners, energy storage and distribution, software, energy storage, driving controls, fuel cells, electric vehicle development platforms, electrification, distribution, and manufacturing methods).

Several of the patents are utilized in the production version of Chevrolet Volt electric plug-in hybrid vehicle.
